Restaurants Kefalonia: which hotspots should you not miss on Kefalonia?

Where can you find the best hotspots on Kefalonia? In this blog we will tell you all about nice restaurants, coffee bars and breakfast places on the Greek island of Kefalonia!

Hotspots Kefalonia: what are the best restaurants on this Greek island?

This summer we took a week to visit the beautiful Greek island of Kefalonia. We visited the most beautiful beaches of Kefalonia, went looking for the highlights of Kefalonia and enjoyed all the goodies that this Ionian island has to offer food wise.

Neighboring island Zakynthos is a lot more touristy and therefore has many different restaurants and beach clubs. Kefalonia is known as the quiet island, without mass tourism. We were therefore positively surprised when we came across so many nice hotspots on Kefalonia. We understood from the local population that Kefalonia is a place where people live all year round and where enough young people live. This ensures that the local population is also a regular customer at restaurants and coffee shops. And that in turn ensures that there are a lot of them!

In doubt which island to visit: Zakynthos or Kefalonia? In this blog we describe the differences and you can read which island suits you best!

Okay, long story short: there are a lot of nice restaurants. Below we describe our dining experiences and we tip the coolest hotspots in Kefalonia!

1. Restaurant Beverinos in Argostoli: romantic courtyard in the capital

Argostoli has plenty of restaurants, especially at the harbor and on the squares. We really liked restaurant Beverinos because of the cozy courtyard garden. There are lights everywhere and cute tables and benches.

You can eat various Greek starters here, for a very reasonable price. Click here for the exact location of this restaurant on Kefalonia

Update: Beverinos is temporarily closed for renovation. After the winter it is expected to open with the new restaurant.Hotspots restaurants Kefalonia 6

2. Gelato Fresco Italiano In Argostoli: Best Ice Creams in Kefalonia

With that hot weather in summer, you will certainly long for a cooling ice cream. We liked the Gelato Fresco Italiano ice creams the best! Creamy, without being too sweet and the scoops are nice and big! Click here for the exact location of this hotspot of Kefalonia.

3. Coffee Break Kefalonia in Argostoli: delicious coffee and sandwiches

Opposite the docking point of the ferry that runs between Argostoli and Lixouri, you’ll find the perfect hotspot for a quick cup of coffee or breakfast. We ordered here several times the richly filled sandwiches and buns to take to the beach. Very tasty and great if you’re waiting for the ferry! Tip: with a rental car you can easily visit all these restaurants. We rented a car through Sunny Cars on Kefalonia because then we know that all goes well and you are fully insured!

4. Restaurant Avli in Lixouri: restaurant with delicious Greek food with a modern twist

In the port city of Lixouri there are dozens of restaurants on the water. All aimed at tourists, with about the same menu. Our tip, however, is to look a little further. In a street parallel to the boulevard, you will find restaurant Avli. A place that is always full, not without reason. The delicious dishes served here are modern Greek. Simple yet slightly more special than the standard tourist dishes and for a very decent price.

Tip: don’t feel like drinking alcohol? Then order their lavender lemonade! Also very tasty here is the moussaka and the green salad with figs. Click here for the exact location of this restaurant on Kefalonia.

5. Restaurant Myrtillo near Myrtos Beach: good coffee, smoothies and salads

On the way to the viewpoint on Myrtos Beach, we passed a very nice orange building. Curious, I asked Ries to stop the car so I could have a look around. And so we discovered the cute restaurant Myrtillo. Here you can drink all kinds of (ice) coffee, order smoothies, salads or enjoy the brunch dishes.

Most of the products are organic and come from nearby. Inside you will find a shop with all these local products, perfect for buying tasty soap, honey or jewellery. All in all, definitely worth a stop along the way! Click here for the exact location of this hotspot of Kefalonia.

6. Restaurant Alati at Alaties Beach: more expensive but good restaurant by the sea

The idyllic restaurant Alati at Alaties beach is the perfect place for a long lunch or cocktails at sunset. Located under the pine trees with partial sea view, you can enjoy delicious pastas, good wine and the tastiest homemade pita bread we have ever had in Greece. Really, you should visit this place just because of the pitas (we ordered 3 portions, we liked it that much)!

The prices are a bit higher but we thought this restaurant was definitely worth it. Click here for the exact location of this restaurant on Kefalonia.

7. Patisserie Melina in Fiskardo: the most delicious pastries, breakfasts and cocktails

Fiskardo is in my opinion the most beautiful village in all of Kefalonia. It is a typical jet-set village, where the luxury sailing yachts moor. You will find restaurants along the entire boulevard, all a bit more expensive than in the rest of Kefalonia. However, when we visited Fiskardo, it was so hot that we really didn’t feel like eating extensive food at lunchtime and in the evening. That’s why we ordered something from the patisserie Melina both times.

This restaurant is also on the boulevard but is a bit more low key. You can drink coffee here, enjoy pastries, typical brunch dishes (fresh yogurt with fruit or American pancakes), or a cocktail later in the day. The terrace is located on the water, which provides cooling and inside all the different pastries are displayed. Really nice place! Click here for the exact location of this hotspot of Kefalonia.

8. Restaurant Daily Art in Agia Effimia: bakery with good smoothies and the best pancakes ever!

I ate the very best pancakes in my life at Daily Art. A bakery/breakfast place where they make fresh pancakes and smoothies. Don’t expect anything special, you eat here from a cardboard plate with bamboo cutlery. But that doesn’t matter because oh my god, those pancakes!!! So fluffy, sweet and perfect in taste! My mouth is watering again! You will also find fresh bread, all kinds of pastries and savory tarts here. Be sure to stop by if you drive through the nice village of Agia Effimia. Click here for the exact location of this hotspot of Kefalonia.

9. Beach club Acron on Antisamos Beach: nice & well-priced beach bar

We thought Acron was the nicest beach bar in all of Kefalonia. Not only do you lie here on beach beds with lovely thick cushions on Antisamos Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. You can also eat here both at your bed and at the table, delicious dishes for a fair price. We enjoyed a pasta with feta and chili peppers, tasty sandwiches and fresh fruit with yogurt and honey. All served directly to your beach bed! Definitely go by! Click here for the exact location of this beach bar on Kefalonia.
